Why Everyone Must See Bruce Springsteen in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Wednesday Published by 2 Comments

A couple of weeks ago I was sat at home quite happily watching some TV when a very exciting bit of news popped up on Twitter and got me all restless – yep, Bruce Springsteen to play in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in September 2013. I yelped in excitement as I have been waiting for this moment for YEARS. I text anyone I thought would care, but as seems to be the norm at the moment, not many shared my enthusiasm.  But for any Bruce Springsteen fan who does share my enthusiasm but is considering not going, I beg you...

Review: ‘Frenzy In Firenze’ – Bruce Springsteen in Florence, Italy, 2012

Wednesday Published by 1 Comment

Five months late, I’ve just about pulled myself together enough to write about seeing Bruce Springsteen in Florence. My third concert of the Wrecking Ball tour, it was always going to be one of my favourites and one that secretly I was most excited about – my love affair with Italy has gone on almost as long as my ‘love affair’ with Bruce. Springsteen’s fans who want to get into the pit are known for their hard cord nature, and the 5am arrival at the stadium after a restless night in a camp site had me feeling pretty rough. If...

Review: Bubbledogs, London

Thursday Published by 3 Comments

Last week I arranged a convenient 4pm meeting in town, and when it finished I hotfooted my way over to Charlotte Street to get in the queue for Bubbledogs, a newish hot dog and champagne bar causing a bit of a stir in London. I got there at 5.15pm and was about 14th in the queue…for a 35 cover restaurant I was relieved that I would be one of the first batches through the doors. This ‘no reservations’ trend winds me up. Bubbledogs is cosy and surprisingly small inside, barebrick walls, soft lighting and cute illustrations on the walls. Seating is stools...

In N Out Jacket

Wednesday Published by Leave your thoughts

Something quite remarkable happened to me a few weeks ago. I was doing the usual, moaning about the weather whilst peering out the window. Then, something far more interesting than the weather caught my eye. Something very interesting indeed. There, glistening on a hanger at the charity shop over the road, was the most beauitful jacket I have ever seen. An In N Out varsity jacket. After years of scouring charity shops for that one off vintage Springsteen t-shirt, I come across this beauty just metres from where I live. This definitely isn’t a fashion blog, and I’m certainly no fashionista, but hey I...

I’m On Fire – Cousin Cole Remix

Tuesday Published by Leave your thoughts

Finding other Bruce fans is such a treat, but when you find people who are both burger and Bruce lovers – well that’s even better! That’s why I was so happy when fellow burger fanatic @Burgeracblog revealed that he is also partial to a bit of Bruce. Albeit not to the same extent, he dabbles in Bruce’s music, but he still appreciates his greatness. Admittedly, I’m set in my ways, and I am normally quite reluctant to hear remixes/covers of Springsteen‘s music – I’m not convinced it can ever be better. I also LOVE the song I’m On Fire –...

Burrito Loving Jake Clemons

Wednesday Published by Leave your thoughts

Imagine being at a food market in London on a Friday night, cruising around the stalls, sussing out what you fancy for dinner, when who should you see before you?  Jake Clemons.  That’s exactly what happened to my friend a few weeks back. While I was bopping along to Southside Johnny, my friend literally bumped into him, just like that. Of course I was jealous. I bombarded him with questions. Exactly where were you? Who was he with? Was he nice? What was he eating? Did you ask him if he liked burgers?  All I know is that he likes...

SoLITA (Burgers), Manchester

Monday Published by 1 Comment

Not long ago I wrote about one of the hottest burgers on Manchester’s burger scene, Almost Famous. On the same weekend I went on a bit of a burger tour and the next place I tried was SoLITA – a newish restaurant South of Little Italy in Manchester’s Northern Quarter (hence the name). SoLIta is the place to visit in Manchester if you’re looking for your mac’n’cheese and pulled pork fix. Whilst this is offered in abundance in London nowadays, SoLITA’s one of the only places in Manchester to enjoy this. The menu is varied and there’s a lovely selection...

Review: Almost Famous, Manchester

Tuesday Published by Leave your thoughts

Smoky & The Bandit Burger The London burger scene may be booming, but Manchester’s burger offering is moderate by comparison. I’ve enjoyed some incredible meals in the city, from bacon butties to Thai, but on a recent visit I naturally had to check out the burger situation. The first place by visit bought me to was Almost Famous – a newish former pop-up causing a stir in Manchester. Before I start, take a look at the burger I had. It’s truly glorious. If you are looking to get stuck into a really good burger then this is it.   Situated in the trendy...

Bruce Springsteen in New York, April 2012

Wednesday Published by Leave your thoughts

I’m still very much suffering the Bruce Blues, I have come to reluctantly accept the fact that as a Bruce Springsteen lover, I’ve had a pretty good run of it this Summer. Bruce may be touring the US now, but I was lucky enough to see him in April 2012 in New York, my first concert this year, with a long Summer of Bruce and the E Street Band stretching out in front of me. As fans know, after every Bruce concert you feel that you’ve seen your best. Can it really get any better? Inevitably, I’ve thought every show...
