Burgers

Cheeseburger Baby, Miami, Florida

Nobody really needs a fussy fancy burger. Least of all me. And that’s why I love Cheeseburger Baby, the antithesis of the showy tits and arse Miami that’s just around the corner.

Cheeseburger Baby is located on Washington Avenue, or “grimy Miami” as one smoothy city resident told me. But grimy is my thing!

I’ve been to Cheeseburger Baby many many times – there’s nothing like a 5am burger after a night out at Twist, a gay club on the same street. This burger joint is open round the clock, which should give you a good idea of the vibes.

And then, most recently, I went to Cheeseburger Baby on Christmas Day. Because why wouldn’t you want a burger on Xmas day? OK, don’t answer that.

I always keep it simple with American cheese, pickles, grilled mushrooms (SO good in a burger) grilled onion, bacon (severe but awesome – check out that crispiness!) and a dobber of a 1/2lb patty. The burger is so big that the guy building it asked if I could handle it. Oh mate, pllllease.

Cheeseburger Baby!

It’s GREAT. And the setting – sticky counters, stools around the bar, eau de burger wafting about the place – is just top. It’s not the first burger I’ve had on Christmas Day, and I suspect it won’t be the last.

Grimy? Brilliantly so.
