Who likes reading in bed? I do! But I also like looking at nice pictures in bed. Of the burger variety of course.
Knowing I like burgers (like? love!), last year the kind folk at Murdoch Books sent me this beauty of a burger recipe book called Hamburger Gourmet, and I’ve been enjoying it every night in bed since.
Sometimes I use it in the kitchen too. That’s right, as well as eating burgers I’ve been trying to cook them. Sadly my performance in the kitchen is more Barry Manilow than Bruce Springsteen (that’s assuming you think that Barry Manilow is crap, like I do). That’s nothing to do with the recipes, it’s just my ‘heavy hand’ approach to cooking, apparently. I have a real talent for burning onions. But with a bit of help, I’ve been making my way through a selection of incredible burger recipes. Who knew so many delicious variations could be thought up?!
Bedtime reading |
Hamburger Gourmet was put together by a team of food lovers: Vincent Garnier who is the founder of the tres chic Paris hamburger chain BLEND, food photographer David Japy, and food stylist Elodie Rambaud. The pretty little hard back book was previously published in French, but now it’s available in English, and the pictures have made me gasp in glee. Pages and pages of beautifully photographed burgers, with recipes alongside. Not boring recipes, there’s anything from a simple beef burger, to chicken and coconut burgers, burgers with cherry jam, burgers with whiskey, burgers with blue cheese – 58 in total.
There’s burger buns galore.
Classic options.
Hmmm if only my photography could be as good as the book’s |
And more funky burgers.
Foie gras and gingerbread burger anyone? |
A burger with that trendy grain quinoa |
And some sweet treats to finish it all off.
If you enjoy food and are often tempted by a burger or two, then this is the cook book for you.
Hamburger Gourmet is available in the shops for £14.99 (bargain) and you can also purchase the book here from Amazon.
