Bruce Springsteen has a way of convincing me that I am a brilliant singer. If you ever see a girl walking down the street in London, headphones in hollering ‘THIS TRAIN” that’ll be me listening to Land Of Hope And Dreams. I’m not embarrassed at all, but for some reason my friends and family are. Apparently it’s not normal to walk along the street singing at people.
Don’t worry, I do hold back a little at the actual concerts. Although sometimes it can’t be helped, I try my hardest to be as considerate as possible. I am fully aware that you would go to a Bruce Springsteen concert to hear Bruce sing your sign request, not the girl stood next to you. I know that trying to out sing Bruce is a) unlikely b) irritating c) please be quiet and let me hear Bruce’s version of Secret Garden, not yours. I think this inside my head of course.
So London based Bruce Buds if you are like me and love duetting with Bruce but haven’t had the opportunity to perform to your full majestic potential, there is now a solution. There must be a Springsteen fan at the Prince Charles Cinema, as on Saturday 9th November 2013 the venue will be be holding a Springsteen Sing-Along night! Yes I can hardly contain my excitement either. It basically seems to be a chance to sing some Springsteen without being glared at, told to “shhhhhhh”, or be looked at like you’ve had one too many shots of whiskey in your morning coffee. Great stuff. Apparently you can also come dressed as your favourite era Springsteen too. I’m not so sure about that, but hey, I may be convinced to grow a little Bruce beard.
Tickets are £12.50 and 25% of the proceeds will be going to Macmillan Cancer Support. A whole room full of Bruce Buds singing merrily. Surely there can’t be anything better to do on a Saturday night in the capital?
I hope to see some of you there!
